Ok, so maybe it's not the world's best pasta sauce, but it's definitely my best pasta sauce! Justin and I both loved it! Micah ate it without the hamburger, and he was a pretty big fan too :)
1/2 onion diced
2 slices bacon, chopped
2 can crushed tomatoes
1 can diced tomatoes with oregano, basil, and garlic- pureed in blender
1 can tomato paste
1 pound hamburger
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1-2 tsp. salt
1 pound pasta of your choice (I used penne)
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
Saute onion and bacon in medium-sized pot until bacon is cooked and onion is translucent. While they are sauteing, brown hamburger in skillet with garlic powder, basil, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, and salt to onion and bacon. Stir well. Drain hamburger and add to tomato sauce. Cook pasta according to package directions, drain, and return to pot. Stir sauce into the pasta until all the pasta is coated. Add cheese and stir until melted. Enjoy!
