Friday Favorites

I did a really bad job of taking pictures during our Thanksgiving celebration. Something about cooking and caring for babies and spending time with family. Anyway...here are some pictures of the past two days. We've enjoyed our days hanging out with family.

Micah shares my love of grapefruit.

Thanksgiving food! The rolls are amazing. I used a different recipe than usual and it was amazing. Be forewarned though- the first part of the recipe is written very...strangely. Read the whole thing and make sure you understand what you're supposed to do in the right order.

The hubs had been wanting waffles for a while so I made him a big pile this morning. He ate all but three bites.

Enjoy your weekend!

Thankful Thursday

16. I am thankful for sunshine. I love sunshine! I would live somewhere warm and tropical if we could move our church there :)

17. I am thankful that my husband is off work for the next four days! Hurray for time with my family!

18. I'm thankful that I'm a work in progress. God is working on me and I am constantly finding things I need to change and improve on. Life is growth.

19. I'm thankful for marriage. Our marriage. Our little world within the rest of the world that stabilizes our family.

20. I'm thankful for friends. We have some great friends and they all contribute to our lives in some way.

21. I'm thankful for my comfy couch. I pile up on it for some amount of time every day to read to Micah, feed Kevin, read my Bible, watch tv with my husband, talk to friends, drink hot chocolate or Dr. Pepper, and occasionally nap.

22. Oh, and I'm thankful for Dr. Pepper. For a collection of preservatives and chemicals it's pretty tasty :)

I hope you are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving! May gratitude to God permeate our lives every day!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Justin had four whole days off for Thanksgiving! And we had a great time! We had our families up for Thanksgiving Day. My parents and brother and Justin's parents too. We had great food and they all enjoyed playing with Micah! We played in the yard, put up the Christmas tree and the outside lights, ate waffles and pancakes for breakfast, listened to Christmas music, slept in (as long as Micah would!), and generally stayed around the house!

Peeking over the couch

All the guys. Micah, my dad, my brother (standing), Justin, and Justin's dad

Grandmothers! They don't look it, do they?

We fed our pastor's animals while they were gone! Micah loves the dogs!

Micah loves to sit on the counter!

Putting up the Christmas tree!

Micah loves to sit here while I get ready! He usually ends up wet too! :)

We rearranged the living room to put up the tree. We love the new arrangement and plan to keep it! And we really have to work on getting something on those walls!

Other side of the room and the Christmas tree! I think we found curtains too! I just need to order them! Hurray!

We had a great wekeend! We are back to our normal routine today, although I am thinking about Christmas present ideas too!

Thanksgiving Special?

It's November already! Wow! Of course that means that Thanksgiving will be here soon. :) Some of my Facebook friends are listing one thing each day that they are thankful for. There are some great things to read in the news feed as people are praising God for the blessings He has given them. But what if we couldn't list out for others what we are thankful for? What if they had to be able to tell from our lives?

For example, my first four would be
1. My heavenly Father
2. My wonderful husband
3. My favorite little boy
4. Our new home

God would rather we lived our thankfulness than talked our thankfulness. Although I don't think He minds that either! But how would living our thankfulness change our lives?

Perhaps we would serve our Heavenly Father? Attend church, dig into our Bibles, spend time in prayer, go soul-winning, use our talents for His glory. God deserves our best, our all.

Perhaps we would serve our husbands and build them up? Encourage and strengthen them instead of complain and criticize? Spend time laughing and building memories. They should know they are number one to us!

Perhaps we would be more patient with our child(ren) and spend time with them. Spend time playing and teaching them things. Spend time reading. Not complain about the things we can't do because we have children or about how they irritated or inconvenienced us. They do hear us.

Perhaps we would use our home for God's glory? Build an atmosphere of love, be hospitable, have the same "face" at home that we have at church or at work. Not complain about the quirks or about cleaning it. Make home a place that our families love to be.

This month I am going to focus on whether or not I am living out my thankfulness as well as speaking it!
